How to choose a team
Start with the heroes you enjoy, then ask one practical question: what does the next hero do after the first opening? A useful team has a visible handoff, rather than three characters trying to solve the same moment.
Pick a pattern that matches your comfort level, then compare its named heroes before committing resources. A patch, different encounter, or changed roster can make another option more useful.
Airborne handoff: Reina, Lute, and Castella
Choose this pattern if you enjoy movement and an Airborne setup. Reina creates the opening, Lute supplies the documented bridge, and Castella takes the follow-up when the target is ready.
This is most useful when you can keep the target readable through the handoff. If a launch or camera angle becomes unsafe, reset instead of treating the sequence as a mandatory long combo.
Control handoff: Ornette, Castella, and Alex
Choose this pattern when you prefer a deliberate control exchange. Ornette and Alex create or confirm a readable control window, while Castella uses the documented follow-up after the target is broken and Knocked Down.
This pattern is conditional on the encounter giving the team a clean opening. It is not a claim that the trio is the best answer to every boss or group.
Bleed/Stun handoff: Theresia, Roxy, and a flexible third slot
Choose this route when you want a status handoff with a flexible final role. Theresia establishes the documented Bleed or Stun opening, Roxy continues it, and Lute adds recovery when the team needs a safer finish. Use Castella when control is the more useful third job.
Check the current encounter and your available roster before choosing the third slot. Neither variation is a guaranteed ranking or a fixed damage route.
