Before you start

Complete the Prologue and confirm that Fate's Invitation appears in your inventory. The available hero must also appear in Exchange before you can select them.

The four-step unlock path

  1. Complete the Prologue and obtain your first Fate's Invitation
  2. Open Exchange
  3. Select an eligible hero
  4. Spend the Invitation to unlock them

If Exchange is open but the hero is missing, use the eligible list shown in the current menu instead of spending another item.

What Fate's Invitation does

One Invitation lets you select one eligible hero in Exchange. It is not a random character pull, but that does not mean every hero appears in Exchange at the same time.

Before you spend the first invitation

There is no universal first pick. Choose around the way you want to play and the job your current team lacks.

Stay close and react

Melee timing

Look for a kit whose range and setup match close combat. Learning enemy attacks matters more when you have less space.

Keep some distance

Ranged comfort

A ranged option gives you more room to read attacks. Check whether that hero's mechanics connect with the characters you already use.

Move first

Mobile play

If movement is the fun part for you, favor a kit built around repositioning or aerial control. Faster inputs can demand tighter timing.

Fill the missing job

Team fit

Compare the eligible heroes with your current party before spending. A new role is usually more useful than a second character who solves the same problem.

Exchange eligibility can change. Make the final choice from the hero list in your current Exchange menu.

How to earn later invitations

Continue the main story and complete eligible Hero Quests. Not every chapter awards an Invitation, so plan around the item you can see rather than assuming the next chapter will provide one.

Story joins and Exchange unlocks

Story joins and Exchange availability vary by hero. Follow clear story joins when they occur. Use Exchange only for heroes shown as eligible there; do not assume the two routes share one complete roster.

If the option is missing

Check the flow from the beginning:

  1. Make sure the Prologue is complete.
  2. Check whether Fate's Invitation is present.
  3. Reopen Exchange and inspect the currently eligible heroes.
  4. If the Invitation or menu is still absent, continue the main story to the next clear progression point.
  5. Reopen Exchange after that milestone.

Avoid spending another item just because its icon looks similar.
