Castella Guide: Post-Break Signal, Stun, Rotation, and Teams

Learn how Castella responds after her team breaks Super Armor, uses her Signal and Stun, and hands the controlled target to the next DragonSword Awakening hero.

Quick answer

Best for players who want a post-break control responder rather than a standalone opener. Once the team brings Super Armor to zero, Castella's Signal becomes available for a Stun response and controlled handoff.

Who should play Castella

Pick Castella if you want a clear post-break job in a tag sequence. She suits players who can let the team finish the Super Armor phase, enter at melee range when her Signal becomes available, and pass the Stunned target onward.

She is less comfortable when you want to stay far away or keep one character active through the whole fight. Her clearest supported value is the response after the break, not ownership of every step that creates it.

Quick playstyle

Let the active teammate handle the armor phase. When enemy Super Armor reaches zero and Castella's Signal appears, bring her in, apply Stun, and leave while the controlled target is still useful to the next hero.

Against a boss, assign the armor work to the heroes that can complete it reliably. Castella's job begins at the confirmed post-break response.

Core mechanics

Post-break Signal

Castella's Signal becomes available after enemy Super Armor reaches zero. That condition identifies when she can respond; it does not require her to handle the entire armor phase alone.

Super Armor to zero

The active team brings the bar to zero before Castella enters. Confirm both the broken state and her available Signal rather than assigning the response to a portrait that is not ready.

Break, Stun, and handoff

Castella uses Break and Stun in the official sequence. In the post-break pattern, her Stun turns the team-created opening into a controlled handoff for the next hero.

  1. Keep the armor-phase hero active until enemy Super Armor reaches zero.
  2. Confirm that Castella's Signal is available after the break.
  3. Bring Castella in and apply Stun.
  4. Hand the controlled target to the teammate assigned to continue the status chain.

Team roles

Official Castella-Lute-Aria trio

Castella starts with Break and Stun, Lute extends control with Stun and Knockdown, and Aria follows from range with Fire and Airborne. This is the official teaching order for the three named heroes.

Ornette-Castella-Alex boss control

Ornette or Alex handles the armor break and triggers Knockdown. Castella then takes the post-break control window before handing the target back to Ornette or Alex.

Theresia-Roxy-Castella Bleed-Stun trio

Theresia applies Bleed and Stun, Roxy enters for the next offensive phase, and Castella takes the third slot for another Stun response before the team cycles back.

Strengths

  • Gives a team a clear response after the armor break.
  • Connects the zero-Super-Armor condition to a Stun and Signal handoff.
  • Fits multiple named teams with explicit entry and exit jobs.

Weaknesses

  • Depends on the active team reaching the post-break condition first.
  • Enters at melee range even when another hero handled the armor phase.
  • Remaining on the field after Stun can waste the assigned continuation.

Common mistakes

  1. Asking Castella to own the entire Super Armor phase.
  2. Calling her before Super Armor reaches zero and her Signal is available.
  3. Applying Stun but failing to hand the target to the next hero.
  4. Ignoring which teammate is assigned to restart the sequence.

How to unlock Castella

If Castella is locked in your current roster, use the general Fate's Invitation and Exchange path. Check the current in-game Exchange list before spending, because this is general unlock guidance rather than a character-specific eligibility promise. The character unlock guide explains the flow.
