Cerese Guide: Ice Storm, Frost Control, and Teams

Learn how Cerese casts Ice Storm from open space, establishes Frost, gives an Airborne consumer a clean handoff, and restores safe spacing in DragonSword: Awakening.

Quick answer

Best for players who want to control space before the team commits. Cerese casts Ice Storm from open space, establishes Frost, hands an Airborne state to a ready consumer, and resets the lane before pressure reaches her.

Who should play Cerese

Pick Cerese if you prefer deciding where the team fights before using the next control action. She rewards players who preserve open space, watch the target's route, and make the next handoff only after the state is visible.

She is less comfortable if you want to stay in close pressure after every cast. Cerese works best when the team treats spacing as part of the rotation.

Quick playstyle

Start from open space and make Ice Storm cover the target's likely route. Use Frost to create a controlled moment, then switch to a ready Airborne consumer instead of standing still once the target closes the gap.

When the lane becomes unsafe, reset with the team. Cerese's next cast is more useful from a new open position than from a crowded corner.

Core mechanics

Ice Storm

Ice Storm is the space-setting action. Cast it from open ground where Cerese can still see the target and retain a path out.

Frost

Frost gives the team a visible control state to work from. Check the next hero's available continuation before committing the handoff.

Airborne handoff

Airborne is the team state to give a compatible consumer. Do not force the handoff when no teammate can safely take the next turn.

  1. Move into open space with a lateral path away from the target.
  2. Cast Ice Storm across the target's likely route rather than from a corner.
  3. Establish Frost and check for a ready Airborne consumer.
  4. Hand the state to that consumer while the opening is still clear.
  5. Reset spacing before returning to Cerese for the next Ice Storm.

Team roles

Cerese-Othello-Dana ranged control

Cerese casts Ice Storm from open space, Othello takes the Airborne-compatible close-range pivot when the target collapses distance, and Dana restores the ranged turn after the team resets its lane.

Cerese-Reina-Eileen spacing reset

Cerese establishes Frost from open space, Reina takes the Airborne route, Eileen supplies the next handoff, and Cerese returns only after the trio has restored spacing for another control turn.

Strengths

  • Turns open space into a deliberate Frost-control lane.
  • Gives a ready teammate a clear Airborne handoff state.
  • Rewards a calm reset instead of forcing close-range pressure.

Weaknesses

  • Close pressure can remove the open space Ice Storm needs.
  • A handoff becomes risky when the next consumer is not ready.
  • Repeating the same lane can let the target crowd Cerese's position.

Common mistakes

  1. Casting Ice Storm from a corner with no lateral exit.
  2. Switching into an Airborne route before the consumer is ready.
  3. Staying on Cerese after close pressure has reached her lane.
  4. Resetting straight backward instead of finding a new open angle.

How to unlock Cerese

Cerese becomes available through story progression around the later part of Chapter 2. Follow the current task shown by your progress, because the task name can vary with the state you reach. The character unlock guide explains the general roster flow.
